As the festive season approaches, schools are abuzz with excitement and anticipation for the annual Christmas party. Unique Christmas party snacks for school can make these celebrations unforgettable, so let's explore some easy Christmas snack ideas that will not only satisfy kids' taste buds but also get them in the holiday spirit.

1. Christmas Tree Pastry Skewers

Christmas Tree Pastry Skewers

These savory festive skewers will draw oohs and aahs from the little ones even before they take their first bite. Best part? These kids' Christmas party snacks are deceptively easy to make!

INGREDIENTS:

  • 6 slices Buddig Original Ham
  • 2 (8 oz.) refrigerated puff pastry dough sheet
  • 12 thin slices of cheddar
  • 8 12-inch wooden skewers

DIRECTIONS:

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F and prepare 2 baking sheets by lining them with parchment paper. On a clean surface, unroll the dough sheets and use a rolling pin to roll them out into 15”x9” rectangles.
  • Cover one dough sheet with the cheese, followed by the ham, making sure to overlap and cut them to fit as needed. Then, top it off with the second dough sheet.
  • Cut the dough lengthwise into half-inch-wide strips. Take one strip at a time and turn it on its edge, folding each strip like an accordion, with the next fold shorter than the last so that you end up with a tree shape. Thread each loop onto a skewer, leaving about a half-inch space between each loop.
  • Transfer the skewers onto the prepared baking sheets. Bake the skewers in the preheated oven for 13-15 minutes or until they turn golden and the dough is baked through.
  • Use a star-shaped cookie cutter measuring 1 ¾” to cut out shapes from the remaining cheese. Place the star-shaped cheese shapes on top of each skewer, then arrange them on a platter to serve.

What better occasion to treat kids to a white pizza than a white Christmas? A golden crust that's been lovingly stretched to perfection, topped with a creamy mixture of cheese and garlic—an absolute delight!. Add turkey ham and pineapple to the mix and you've got yourself a winner.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 slices Buddig Smoked Turkey Breast and White Turkey
  • 1 refrigerator pizza crust
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup pineapple chunks
  • ½ cup whole milk ricotta cheese
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour (to roll the dough with)
  • 2 tablespoons parmesan cheese, grated
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • salt and pepper

DIRECTIONS:

  • Let the pizza dough sit on the counter uncovered for at least 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 450°F.
  • Gently stretch the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface, adding a sprinkle of flour if the dough becomes sticky. Roll the dough with a rolling pin until it reaches at least twelve inches in diameter.
  • Transfer the stretched dough onto the prepared pan with cornmeal, curling the edges slightly to create a thicker crust and a round shape.
  • In a small mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, parmesan cheese, garlic, adding salt and pepper to taste. Mix well until fully combined.
  • Brush two tablespoons of olive oil evenly over the pizza dough using a silicone brush. Sprinkle the garlic evenly over the oiled dough.
  • Dollop the ricotta mixture in the middle of the pizza dough, then use the back of a spoon to spread the ricotta evenly over the crust.
  • Top the pizza with shredded mozzarella cheese, turkey ham, bacon, and pineapple
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the crust turns golden brown. Remove from the oven and slice!

3. Maple Honey Ham Cupcakes

Maple Honey Ham Cupcakes

Kids will love the playful savory twist on traditional cupcakes, making these snacks an instant hit at any school Christmas party.  They'll fly off the plate faster than you can set them on the table, so make sure to save some for yourself.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 16 oz Buddig Honey Ham, cut into 1/2 inch pieces
  • 1 box devil's food or chocolate cake mix
  • 4 eggs
  • ½ cup (1 stick or 8 tbsp) unsalted butter
  • 1 ¼ cups milk
  • 1 container cream cheese frosting
  • 1 tsp maple extract
  • ¼ tsp kosher salt
  • ½ tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • ½ cup packed light brown sugar

DIRECTIONS:

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F. In the microwave, melt the butter in 20-second intervals.
  • Use a hand mixer to gently combine the cake mix, milk, melted butter, and eggs, being careful not to overmix. We want our cupcakes light and fluffy!
  • Line your cupcake tins with 18-24 liners, then pop the tins into the oven for 13-18 minutes. You'll know they're ready when a toothpick comes out clean from the center.
  • While the cupcakes are baking, prepare the frosting. Grab your hand mixer and blend together the cream cheese frosting, maple extract, and a pinch of kosher salt until it becomes smooth. If you plan on serving the cupcakes soon, keep the frosting at room temperature. Otherwise, pop it in the fridge.
  • Line a baking sheet with foil, top it with parchment paper or a silicone mat, and spread out the honey ham pieces. Sprinkle on freshly ground pepper and brown sugar, ensuring each piece is coated evenly. Bake the bacon at 375°F for about 18-20 minutes, until it turns crisp and brown.
  • Line another baking sheet or plate with parchment paper or a silicone mat. Use a slotted spoon to transfer the candied ham bits, leaving behind excess fat. Let the ham rest for 10-15 minutes, then break them into smaller pieces.
  • Once the cupcakes have cooled for 20-30 minutes, frost each one with the maple cream cheese frosting. Sprinkle the candied ham bits on top, and serve!
